The teacher asked her third-grade students what they wanted to be when they grew up. One boy piped up, “a fireman!” Another student chimed in, “an NBA player.” Another said, “an Astronaut.” A young girl raised her hand. The teacher called on her. “When I grow up, I want to be alive!”
To be truly alive is not a given in this life. The Bible is clear about that. I have provided a link to a booklet that takes a look at what it means to be “alive” from a biblical perspective. They focus on what the Bible calls “regeneration” or “new birth.”
